![]() ![]() Debian is more conservative, which is why you have a 4.19 kernel in LMDE and a 5.4 kernel in Lite. ![]() While Ubuntu is Debiuan based, they are not the same. LMDE is NOT based on Ubuntu like Mint 19 or 20 (or Linux Lite either), it's based on Debian. Your call.Īlso, check out this website for ideas, especially the "Bad wireless connection" section here. Or you can install the 5.4.x LTS kernel on both to compare performance. ![]() Or you can install 19.2 and upgrade to 19.3 from there and it will stay with 4.15.x. You can certainly install 19.3 and downgrade to that kernel as well. I suggested 19.2 because it defaults to the 4.15.x LTS kernel, where 19.3 does not. Regardless, performance is subject to personal preferences, so only you can say what's best for you. That said, I know that Cinnamon can perform well on higher end older stuff as well. I was saying that I would try Xfce because that's my go-to for older hardware because it's "lighter" than Cinnamon (and you were trying Linux Lite, so it made me think that way too). It's your computer, so it's your decision. Does it have to be xfce rather than cinnamon? ![]()
